Tooth Whitening

New Product: Opalescence Go whitening system

Concordia Dental is delighted to announce the launch of Opalescence Go whitening system.

Opalescence Go contains 6% hydrogen peroxide with potassium nitrate and fluoride. It is presented in a unique tray material that means the patient does not need any impressions, no laboratory or casting needed and once you are seen by the Dentist you can take the home whitening the same day.

We have 2 very informative articles about Opalescence Go which we think will be of interest to you:

Discoloured teeth are the bane of smokers, red wine buffs, tea and coffee drinkers and even some people who have had antibiotics as a child. Don’t despair: a safe and effective remedy is only a smile away. Your dentist will determine whether your teeth are suitable for whitening before making a thin whitening tray that fits comfortably over your teeth. This is worn with a small amount of tooth whitening gel for 10-14 days or nights.

While you wear your whitening tray, it gently whitens your teeth. According to research, whitening is perfectly safe for teeth and gums. That’s because the tooth structure has not been changed, just the colour. And if caffeine, red wine and cigarettes continue to be a daily fix, you can re-brighten your smile by wearing the tray one or two nights every six to nine months.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are ideal for creating beautiful smiles in cases of small, oddly shaped, spaced, or discoloured teeth. With this procedure you will be involved directly in your own design process in reshaping, widening and brightening your smile, thus ensuring total satisfaction.

Your dentist can place temporary bonding for 2-3 weeks to protect your teeth and to create the blueprint for your new smile. Thin skins are then fused to the teeth enabling normal social and eating activities to resume immediately. After treatment, you will feel very excited about your beautiful smile.

What are the benefits of veneers?

  • Veneers can greatly improve the appearance of teeth. They hide imperfections, and you loose very little natural tooth material.
  • Veneers also protect teeth from any more damage. Tooth surface can be dissolved away by acid from the mouth (usually from too frequent consumption of certain foods and drinks); this can make teeth very sensitive to hot and cold, in this situation veneers can help to protect the teeth.
  • If the tooth is strong, a veneer is often a better option than a crown for improving a tooth’s appearance.

Porcelain Crowns

For many years traditional crowns have been used to strengthen teeth that are heavily filled, weakened, or darkened due to root canal therapy. But thanks to new technology porcelain crowns look better than your own teeth. This is because the distinctive dark metal line or ‘blue halo’ of old style crowns has been eliminated.

Porcelain crowns are metal free and so natural looking that they could be mistaken for real teeth. You don’t have to have the ‘blue halo’ look with your new crowns. Ask about how this exciting technology can help create your new beautiful smile.

What are the benefits of crowns?

  • A crown is strong and can look and feel exactly like a natural tooth. The colour and shape can be matched to your own teeth.
  • Depending on the strength of the tooth underneath, a crown can last for many years if you look after your mouth and teeth and the crown is not accidentally damaged.
  • Crowns can improve the appearance of teeth.

Porcelain Inlays

Porcelain Inlays

Extensively filled back teeth can now be rebuilt with the modern technology of porcelain to restore teeth to their pre-filled condition. Utilising highly glazed, colour matched porcelain back teeth can be rebuilt to ideal long term strength. Teeth that are heavily filled with large silver fillings are at risk of fracturing and can be rebuilt with porcelain inlays preserving the remaining healthy tooth structure. Smiles can even be widened utilising this new technology. After treatment patients can laugh and smile with confidence.

White fillings

white fillings

White or composite fillings provide a more natural mercury-free alternative to metal. They can be placed at the front or back of the mouth to restore the strength and function of cracked, broken and decayed teeth.

The dentist can build up cracked or chipped teeth with a white filing to restore each tooth to its original look and feel or, it can even be used to close gaps, reshape uneven or short teeth. White fillings are available in a wide range of shades and opacities. The dentist is able to create perfect, yet invisible, restoration which will blend in with the rest of your smile.
